  • Help Your Fellow Horsemen Affected by the Tornadoes

Not only the people and property of southern Indiana were devastated by last Friday's tornado. So many pets & livestock are lost, hungry and injured. The farmers have lost everything necessary to care for their animals. They are in desperate need of tack, bedding, food, feed buckets and medical supplies, not to mention replacement of fencing in order to keep them safe as the community rebuilds.... No halters or leads nor a fence to tie them up to.

  • The Dirty Little Secrets of Horse Showing

Earlier today, I volunteered as the cross-country warm-up steward at my hometown event, River Glen Horse Trials. I have been volunteering out at RG for several years and I always try to help out with whatever Tracey and Kathy need me to do. Fortunately, what they usually need me to do is steward XC warm-up (which I love doing) and I've done this about 3 or 4 times, now, in the past year.

Stage 3: Fall off horse. Use sleeve of shirt to stanch bleeding. Have friend help you get back on horse. Take two Advil and apply ice packs when you get home. Ride next day.

  • In Memory of Ellen Mizell

Long-time members of MSEDA will remember Ellen Mizell, who served as a MSEDA technical delegate and volunteered at a number of shows until she moved away from Lexington in 2002. Sadly, Ellen passed away suddenly on March 13, 2012 in Belleville, IL. Ellen was cremated and her ashes will be interred in Lexington, the place she loved best. The family will hold a visitation on Thursday April 26 from 4 to 8 pm at Milward Funeral Home at 159 N.

  • DRESSAGE JUDGES LIST EXPANDED

USDF “L” Graduates have always been a bit of a conundrum for MSEDA as far as licensing is concerned. The training and testing process for these people is very good and very rigorous, as is the MSEDA program. But, there is no Continuing Education requirement for the “L” Graduates to maintain their license, and for MSEDA judges there is. Hence the dilemma. In an effort to expand the pool of judges available to Organizers who often have to balance several associations' requirement for sanctioning, MSEDA has developed a Guest Card Program.
